Top 6 Red Lipstick for 2023 - Iconic and Classic (Part 1)

My favorite topic. Lipsticks.

It's no secret that I love lipstick. Love them so much, that I don't leave the house without almost every staple color in my makeup bag.

Red lipstick. My favorite kind of lipstick.

It's hard to find a good shade of red. But when you find one, I know that is one of the things that makes you a little more powerful.

I like to play with all of the shades; orangey, dark reds and classic red, matte and sheer. I buy all of them and then mix them or layer them with lip pencils to adjust them to compliment my complexion. But I will make a separate blog post about how I manage to pull off any color.

I have a bunch of shades and love them all.

I will, however, make my first list of top 6 red lipsticks that are on my vanity for everyday use. (I'm not gonna go into detail over packaging or deep reviews, just brief overview.)

Without any further ado, let's see my top 6 red lipsticks - part 1.

1. Dior Rogue Matte Lipstick - 888 Strong Red

The Classic.

Love the creamy and moisturizing feel, even though it's matte. Opacity is middle, subtle scent and easy application. It's lightweight, not sticky, but you can feel it on your lips. It's comfortable to wear and long lasting.

The only thing I don't like about this product it's that it transfers a bit, so it can be a bit messy while you eat or drink.

But, overall, it's great lipstick that I do recommend.

2. MAC Retro Matte Lipstick – Ruby Woo

It's MAC time. One of my favorite red.

It's deeper red, with blue undertones. I will say that it's quite pigmented and creamy, although a little dry. It glides smoothly and it's creamy. The blue undertone makes your teeth so white, so this is a big plus for me.

The only thing I don't like is that it stains my lips a bit. Drying formula is something I prefer in red tones, actually.

3. Fenty Beauty Lip Paint – Uncensored

This is perfect, universal red. Really, it is.

This formula, this color, this perfection... it's permanent lipstick with a soft-matte finish.

This lip paint is super pigmented and opaque. The consistency is airy and smooth, not watery, and the coverage of one swipe is more than enough.

The only thing I don't like about this product is the wand. I feel like it contains a lot of product and it's harder to apply it.

Not only is that affordable, this formula is silky smooth, pigmented and long-lasting.

It comes in over 20 shades, but this red is everything.

I feel like all NYX products have similar applicators that make your application so easy and smooth and they feel light-weight.  It doesn't transfer at all.

The only thing that I don't like about this lipstick is how dry it is. I sometimes apply subtle balm over it to make them a little bit hydrated.

One more drugstore product before we reveal my favorite out of these 6.
Milani. Winner of them all.

They come in 30 shades, and have the best texture - full coverage, light-weight and creamy formula. All that you need is one lipstick. It has a gloss to it, so it doesn't feel heavy at all.

And it's not sticky. Although it has a sheen finished, it really lasts a long time and doesn't transfer that much or rubs of. I always touch up my lipstick throughout the day, but I didn't touch up Milani for 5 hours straight.

The winner takes it all!

The ideal color of red with neutral cool undertones. It's so creamy and has a natural sheen. Coverage of this lipstick is pretty good for it's silky finish. It glides smooth on the lips, is so lightweight almost like a lip mask or lip balm.

The only thing is that it's transferring and moving around a bit, so you got to be extra careful if you go out for a drink or a bite. Despite that, it leaves your lips so hydrated and moisturizing.
